About Horns a Plenty

 

Don Krause

Don Krause, a hornist from Neenah, WI, is a musician with over 40 years of experience, primarily teaching private lessons at his home. He has also been a member of symphonies in Wisconsin for over 40 years and performed in many other bands and orchestras. In 2001, Don began the annual Horns A Plenty Christmas with around 20 horn players at the City Center Plaza in Appleton. On December 22, 2007, he established a Guinness World Record after bringing together 85 horns to perform Christmas music in a mall. Don is also the founder and director of the Fox Valley Horn Club.

 

Fox Valley Horn Club

The Fox Valley Horn Club exists for the continued performance of young and old horn players that want to continue horn performace at a higher level. Through weekly rehearsals, the ensemble prepares for two major performances each year: the Spring concert, which features student solos and contemporary horn ensemble literature, and the Horns a Plenty Christmas. The Fox Valley Horn Club hosts guests artists and clinicians from all over the country, including "The President's Own" US Marine Band, "Pershing's Own" US Army Band, the US Air Force Band and Air Force Band of Mid-America, Jeff Nelsen, Geoff Winter, American Horn Quartet, Dr. James DeCorsey, Kathryn Krubsack, Dr. Bruce Atwell, Lawrence University Horn Studio, and Bernhard Scully.
